TEEN EXPERIENCES
Teen Class
Our teen classroom experience is open to students in 7th-10th grade and currently meets bimonthly on Sunday afternoons, 12:15-1:30pm, including time for lunch. The teens meet with teachers and clergy to learn more about what it means to be a responsible, values-based, Jewish adult in our modern world. Confirmation is included in the teen class experience, and 10th graders are invited to meet individually with our clergy to explore their own Jewish identity, culminating in a speech at our Confirmation ceremony each Spring. The teen program overall provides teens with the opportunity to connect with their peers and continue to build a community of belonging at Makom Solel Lakeside.
Madrichim Program
Our madrichim program is open to teens in 7th-12th grade. Students are placed as madrichim, teaching assistants, in Prek-6th grade classrooms at Lev Learning on Sunday mornings. The madrichim are an instrumental part of our program, providing guidance for our younger students and role modeling Jewish engagement.
Teen Travel Experiences
On alternating years, our teens have the opportunity to travel with Clergy to New York, to explore Jewish history, or to Washington D.C., for the L'taken Social Justice Seminar through the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism.
